President Hamid returns home
President Abdul Hamid returned home on Sunday after his eight-day visit to Japan and Singapore.

A regular flight of Singapore Airlines, carrying the President and his entourage, landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at about 11:25pm, President's Deputy Press Secretary Abul Kalam Azad told reporters.

Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque, dean of the diplomatic corps, Ambassador of Japan to Bangladesh Naoki Ito, chiefs of the three forces, Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister, Consul of Singapore in Dhaka William Chik, and senior civil and military officials were present at the airport to receive the President.

President Hamid left Singapore's Changi International Airport for Dhaka at about 8:35pm (local time) after his two-day stop-over. High Commissioner of Bangladesh to Singapore Mustafizur Rahman was present to see the President off at the airport.

On October 22, Abdul Hamid joined the enthronement ceremony of new Japanese Emperor, who formally declared his ascension as Japan's 126th monarch in front of about 2,000 leaders and representatives from 174 countries and regions at the Imperial Palace in Tokyo.

But the 59-year-old Emperor Naruhito ascended the chrysanthemum throne on May 1.

As part of the occasion, the President and his wife attended the Palace Banquet hosted by Japanese Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako the same day.

He also attended the banquet hosted by Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe the next day.

During the trip, President Hamid also visited Yokohama, Japan's second largest city on October 23. He passed some time in Yamashita Park and NYK Maritime museum inside the Hikawa Maru, a passenger liner that was built in 1930 for the Japan-Seattle line by NHK line.

Alongside, on October 24, he enjoyed a cruise in the lake, surrounded by fabulous mountain scenery, a myriad of cozy villages and the charming city of Hakone.

President Hamid left Japan for Singapore on Oct 20.
