PM pays homage to Bangabandhu
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Sunday (June 23) morning paid rich tributes to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman by placing a wreath at his portrait in front of Bangabandhu Memorial Museum in the capital on the occasion of 70th founding anniversary of Awami League.

After laying the wreath, the PM stood there in solemn silence for sometime as a mark of respect to the memory of the great leader.

Flanked by senior leaders of the party, Hasina placed another wreath at Bangabandhu’s portrait as the president of Bangladesh Awami League.

Later, the premier formally inaugurated the day’s programmes by hoisting national and party flags and releasing pigeons there.

Top leaders of the ruling Awami League and other associate organizations were also present during this time.

Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said Awami League was established to prevent any kind of oppression. The Awami League has been taking the country forward socio-economically. Awami League will also establish a hunger and poverty- free, prosperous and enriched golden Bengal.

Bangladesh Awami League was founded on this day in 1949, which later transformed into the biggest political party of the country to lead struggles for freedom, the War of Liberation and all democratic movements.
