Photographer Shahidul Alam remanded for 7-days
 A Dhaka court placed Drik Gallery owner and eminent photographer Dr Shahidul Alam on seven-day remand in a case filed against him under Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Act.

Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Asaduzzaman Noor of the Dhaka court passed the order in the evening after DB inspector Arman Ali produced Shahidul before the court seeking 10 days of remand. 

Earlier, Dr Shahidul Alam was picked up from his Dhanmondi residence Sunday night (August 5).

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Obaidur Rahman confirmed the matter to Banglanews on Monday morning (August 6).

Police filed the case against Shahidul Alam for spreading propaganda and false information on Facebook and electronic media against the government.

Rehnuma, wife of Shahidul Alam, said her husband gave an interview to international media about on-going students’ movement. Besides, he came live on Facebook about this issue a number times.
