Now, a musical machine that will help you wash your hands for 20 seconds
Researchers are suffering from an Internet of stuff (IoT) system for soap dispensers that they say can ensure that people rinse their hands properly for above 20 seconds according to the World Overall health Organisation rules for COVID-19.

These devices called ‘20Sec4Lifestyle’ will glow, beep and play a musical tone for a lot more than 20 secs to help people disinfect their hands properly, in line with the researchers from Lovely Professional University (LPU) in Punjab.

The splash-proof device can be mounted on any liquid soap dispenser and operates using a battery, they said.

According to WHO, promoting good palm hygiene is among the most basic yet powerful tools that countries need to leverage to reduce the pass on of COVID-9.

The new device can help combat the growing number of instances of COVID 19, which oftentimes spread because of negligence in observing the 20 seconds hands wash rule, the researchers said.

“COVID 19 is spreading rapidly and among the reasons for this is improper hygiene habits. For most people, it really is difficult to keep a an eye on time while cleansing hands,” Prabin Kumar Das, a B. Tech scholar of Electronics Interaction and Engineering at LPU, told PTI.

Das and his workforce developed these devices prototypes with a number of variants, including a sophisticated model that offers step by step hand-washing instructions found in vernacular languages to make sure proper cleaning.

The base product is triggered and starts performing music for over 20 seconds when the nozzle of the handwash is pressed to dispense soap.

The advanced version of the IoT machine can be linked via Wi-Fi network and may be paired and operated through a mobile app.

The Internet of things (IoT) is something of interrelated computing units with the ability to transfer info over a network without requiring human-to-human being or human-to-computer interaction.

The expected selling price of the bottom model post commercialisation is likely to be Rs. 70 per unit, the experts said.

“We all happen to be in a hurry and don't realise that people have didn't completely disinfect ourselves by certainly not washing our hands for the recommended duration of 20 secs,” Das, who developed these devices with his co-workers at LPU, said.

“Therefore, we have think of a simple solution in the sort of 20Sec4Lifestyle which will permit people to follow the prescribed timelines for washing hands,” he added.
