Noakhali gang-rape: 7 remanded for 5-day
A Noakhali court placed seven suspects on a five-day remand for interrogation in connection with an alleged gang rape of a woman in Subarnachar upazila.

Judicial Magistrate Nabanita Guha on Sunday (Jan 6) passed the order in response to a 7-day remand plea for each by the police.

Ibrahim Khalil, Sub Inspector (Investigation) of Char Jabber Police Station and also IO of the case, produced the seven suspects, including mastermind local Awami League leader Ruhul Amin, before the court of district Judicial Magistrate (Amoli Court-2).

A total of eight suspects, including Awami League leader Ruhul Amin, the mastermind of the incident, were arrested so far.

The victim alleged that Ruhul Amin threatened her while she was returning home after voting for ‘paddy sheaf’ on Sunday (Dec 30). At the night, a group of 10 men raped her after tying her husband and children at her residence.

The husband of the 32-year-old woman filed a case with Char Jabbar Police Station, accusing nine persons except Ruhul Amin.
