Housewife gang raped in Noakhali, one held
A man was arrested over the gang rape of a woman at Charjubli of Subarnachar upazila in Noakhali on Tuesday.
Police picked Mosharraf, a resident of the area, up from his house after a case was filed by the victim's husband accusing nine people, officer-in-charge of Charjabbar Police Station Nizam Uddin said, adding that the victim was admitted to Sadar Hospital, UNB reports.
He admitted that the woman was tortured but could not confirm whether she was violated, saying it can be known after the medical test.
The OC also said they were investigating whether the incident was connected with previous enmity or election.
The victim's husband said the hoodlums stormed their house in the early hours of Monday and tied up all the family members except his wife, he said.
They took the woman outside the house at gunpoint where they violated her in turns, the victim's husband claimed.
After the rape, they also threated the victim not to disclose the matter to anyone, saying they would kill her if otherwise, he said.
With the help of neighbours, the victim was taken to hospital on Monday noon.
