No scope of fresh dialogue before polls: EC secy
Mentioning that almost 80 percent preparations of the parliamentary election have been completed, Election Commission (EC) secretary Helaluddin Ahmed ruled out the possibility of holding dialogue with political parties before election.
He made the remarks to reporters in Agargaon EC building on Thursday noon (August 16).
In response to a question, the secretary said around 80 percent preparation for the Jatiya Sangsad polls is completed and now the directives of the commission will be implemented.
“A separate meeting will be held on the election. The commission has directed to create a checklist with what sorts of preparations have already been taken and will be taken in future,” he said.
“We are working considering that the election schedule will be announced in the first week of November and vote will be held in the last week of December. The rest will be decided on EC meeting. So there is no chance of holding talks with political parties ahead of the election,” the secretary said.
On the issue of election date, Helaluddin also said it might be held in the end of December or beginning of January next year.
