New DMP commissioner takes charge
Md Shafiqul Islam has taken charge as the 34th commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) on Friday (September 13).
The public security division of the Home Ministry issued a gazette notification in this regard on August 28.
Md Shafiqul Islam is the successor of outgoing commissioner Md Asaduzzaman Mia.
The new DMP chief served as the chief of Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of police since May 16.
He obtained BSc (honours) degree from Bangladesh Agricultural University in Mymensingh in 1986. He joined Bangladesh Civil Service (Police) as Assistant Superintendent of Police in 1989.
