Stern actions against troublemakers over grenade attack verdict
Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Asaduzzaman Miah on Tuesday warned that stern actions will be taken if anyone tries to create anarchy centring the verdict in August 21 grenade attack cases, scheduled to be delivered on Wednesday .
"There is no specific threat but police have taken all-out preparations to tackle troublemakers," said the DMP Commissioner while talking to reporters after attending a prize giving ceremony at Rajarbagh Police lines in the city.
"Police will deal with an iron hand if any quarter tries to create anarchy," he further said, reports UNB.
The Speedy Trial Tribunal-1 is scheduled to deliver its verdicts in two cases 14 years after the grenade attack on an Awami League rally in the capital that left 24 dead and scores injured.
"We are fully prepared to tackle any unwanted situation if any vested quarter tries to violate the safety of the people, vandalize or wage any arson attack on them," said the DMP chief.
There is no reason for the people to be afraid of any unwanted situation as the law enforcers are on high alert, he assured.
The programme was organized to award stipend (DMP Shikhya Britti 2018) to the children of Bangladesh Police who succeeded in different levels of education.
A total of 850 students were awarded with the stipends.
Senior police officials, among others, were present at the ceremony.
