Music director Emon's bail plea rejected
A court in Dhaka on Tuesday rejected the bail plea of national award winning music director Shawkat Ali Emon in a case filed by his wife Ridita Reza under the Woman and Child Repression Prevention Act.
Metropolitan Magistrate Millat Hossain of Dhaka rejected the bail plea after his lawyer moved the petition to the court.
The court ordered to send Emon to jail on September 26. Previously Friday night, he was arrested from Eskaton residence by Ramna police.
The case statement reads that Emon's wife Ridita Reza filed the case with the city's Ramna Police Station under the Woman and Child Repression Prevention Act on September 20 last. She brought the allegation of torture on her by Emon demanding Tk 10 lakh dowry.
Shawkat Ali Emon married Ridita Reza on February 27 last. It was his third marriage. Following divorce with the first wife actress Bijori Barkatullah, he married Jinat Kabit on December 6 in 2012.
