Mozammel's name dropped from explosives case
A police petition to show Mozammel Hoque Chowdhury, secretary general of Bangladesh Jatri Kalyan Samity, arrested in a case under the Explosive Substances Act was dismissed by a Dhaka court on Thursday.

As a result, Mozammel, who has already received bail in the extortion case he was arrested for, does not have any legal obstructions to securing his freedom, reports bdnews24.com.
 
Case investigation officer SI Md Raihan had brought Mozammel to court from prison for a hearing on the petition to keep him in police custody on Thursday, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Muhammad Mazharul Islam dismissed the petition.
 
On Sep 5, Mozammel, secretary general of the association, was arrested following the association’s publication on annual statistics on road accidents and the accidents that occurred during the Eid.
 
Police arrested him at Narayanganj’s Siddhirganj soon after a case filed by a man named Dulal at the Mirpur Police Station.
 
In the case statement, he alleged that he paid Mozammel Tk 10,000 in extortion money.
 
After the arrest of Mozammel, police sought a five-day remand but the court sent him to jail.
 
On Monday, police filed a petition with Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court to show Mozammel arrested in an Explosives Act case filed at their Kafrul station.
 
Sub-Inspector Md Raihan, investigation officer of the case, also sought a 10-day remand for the arrestee. The petition was dismissed on Thursday.
