Moitree Shetu to ease trade with India, Nepal, Bhutan: PM
Primary Minister Sheikh Hasina today said the Moitree Shetu would support Bangladesh convenience trade with India, Nepal and Bhutan.
She said: “We expect that the framework we are inaugurating today will also help Bangladesh trade easier not only with India, but with Nepal and Bhutan aswell.”
The premier built the remarks in a video message to inaugurate nearly the Maitree Shetu above the Feni river jointly with her Indian counterpart Narendra Modi.
Narendra Modi attended nearly the inauguration ceremony held at Agartala, Tripura.
The 1.9-kilometer bridge connected Tripura of India with Ramgarh of Bangladesh.
According to Sheikh Hasina, the Maitree Shetu can not only create online connectivity between several countries, but also play a substantial role in business-trade and economic development.
She said, “We are creating a fresh period in South Asia through providing connection to India. We happen to be in a region which includes remained conservative in checking and where inter-regional trade is certainly considerably below its potential”.
The PM added that she believes political boundaries shouldn't become physical barriers to trade.
“Bangladesh’s growth trajectory, along using its geographic location, helps it be an exceptionally attractive neighbor on South Asia,” Sheikh Hasina added.
