Int'l workshop on link between female sexuality and child marriage begins in city
A three-day international workshop titled 'Connection between adolescent female sexuality and child marriage' has started at a hotel in Gulshan on Tuesday.

The seminar will continue till March 4 beneath the auspices of Population Services and Training Centre (PSTC), said a news release.

A total of nine countries - India, Pakistan, Nepal, Bangladesh, Mali, Niger, Malawi, Uganda and Ethiopia - are participating in this international workshop online.

PSTC Executive Director Dr. Noor Mohammad, Head of Programs Dr. Mahbub Alam, Professor of Population Science of the University of Dhaka Mohammad Bellal Hossain, were present, amongst others, as discussants in the 1st day's workshop in Bangladesh.

In the welcome speech, Dr. Noor Mohammad stated, ‘We acquired to organise this international workshop online because of coronavirus pandemic. By exchanging experiences from eight different countries, we will be able to learn about the various powerful steps to be studied in the field of 'Linking between adolescent female sexuality and child marriage', which will help us move the job forward.

Jan Apeperloo, the international coordinator of the workshop, also took part in the welcome session via online video message.

Population Council, Simavi, Save the kids and Oxfam are working as global partners of the A LOT MORE THAN Brides Alliance.

A national workshop happened in November last year to highlight the reasons behind child marriage, adolescent female sexuality and problem solving through the job entitled 'More Than Brides Alliance-Making the The majority of What We Know'.
