Mentally challenged girl violated; rape suspect held
Police have arrested a rape suspect in connection with violating a mentally challenged girl in Dhamrai upazila of Dhaka.
Sources said, Md Jamir Khan, son of late Mobarak Khan, took the teenage girl, aged about 14, to a lemon garden around 1:30pm on Thursday, while she was moving in the area. He, later, raped her there.
Police conducted a drive at Dholut village on Friday night and arrested Jamir, said Dharai Police Station SI Md Jewel Hossain.
The arrest was made following a case filed by the victim's father under Women and Children Repression Prevention Act on Thursday night.
The girl was sent to One Stop Crisis Centre of Dhaka Medical College Hospital for medical test.
