Husband, his friend get life for raping wife in Satkhira
SATKHIRA: A tribunal on Tuesday (July 10) sentenced life term imprisonment to two persons including the husband for raping his wife in Satkhira.
Judge Hosne Ara Akhter of Satkhira Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal passed the order with Tk 50,000 fine for each convicts, in default, six more months of imprisonment.
The convicts are- Tapan Kumar Ghosh, 40, son of late Atul Kumar Ghosh of Waria village of Satkhira Sadar upazila and Nimai Moral, 35, son of Joy Moral and husband of the victim from the same village.
According to case statement, Nimai got married in 2000 but after the marriage his wife found out that he is a drug addict. The couple used to fight over the matter. One day, Tapan, a friend of Nimai, offered cash to Nimai in exchange of sexual activities with his wife to which Nimai gave consent. Later Tapan, with the help of Nimai, raped her on February 10 in 2006.
On February 13, victim’s father filed a case with Satkhira sadar police station against Nimai and Tapan.
