Man Utd, Chelsea seal top-four spots seeing that Watford, Bournemouth relegated
Manchester United and Chelsea sealed Champions League places on Sunday seeing that Bournemouth and Watford fell through the trapdoor on a dramatic final time of the longest Premier League period.

Liverpool were crowned champions last month but there was many to play for found in the ultimate 90 minutes of a good campaign that started on August 9 last year and was interrupted by a three-month coronavirus shutdown.

United finished third just after a nervy 2-0 win in a Champions League shootout against Leicester, while Chelsea ended in fourth spot just after beating Wolves simply by the same scoreline by Stamford Bridge.

At the other end of the table, Bournemouth and managerless Watford followed already-relegated Norwich right down to the Championship while Aston Villa fans breathed a huge sigh of relief.

Leicester, in fifth location, will play found in the Europa League next season where they'll be joined by Tottenham, who all drew 1-1 with Crystal Palace to leapfrog Wolves.

Wolves still have two routes to qualify for European competition next time -- either in to the Champions League by winning the Europa League the following month or into the Europa League if Chelsea beat Arsenal in next week's FA Cup final.

- Chelsea come good -

Chelsea required simply a draw in Stamford Bridge to seal their place found in the most notable four, but won all three details in primary half stoppage time seeing as Mason Mount whipped in from a good free-kick before Olivier Giroud slid home.

A top-four end and a Cup final in his first time in control is a coup for Frank Lampard, who had to handle a transfer ban and the loss of Eden Hazard to Real Madrid last summer.

"There were a whole lot of unknowns when I came found in, could we progress without Eden Hazard?" Lampard told Sky Sports.

"We knew we'd lost a massive player. We've a genuine spirit within the group now and it's a genuine team effort now.

"Myself and the staff prefer to boost every time -- the task now could be to see what considerably more we are able to do next season."

United, whose form has dipped in new weeks after they pulled themselves back to contention for the Champions League, were locked at 0-0 at half-time at the King Vitality Stadium.

However they finally broke the deadlock in the 71st minute, when Bruno Fernandes scored from the penalty location after Anthony Martial was upended. Jesse Lingard obtained late to seal the gain.

The result is a huge lift for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, whose team were 14 points behind the Foxes in the very beginning of the year, but is a bitter blow for Brendan Rodgers, whose side have already been camped in the most notable four for almost the whole campaign.

"I'm delighted," said Solskjaer. "We've result from way, approach behind teams and eliminated past them. We've displayed that we've got the consistency, the proper mentality. We're creating a group and a effectiveness culture here that people can be proud of."

- 'Incredibly painful' -

Two goals from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and a good hit by Kieran Tierney gave Watford, who sacked Nigel Pearson previous this month, an extremely difficult task at Arsenal.

A good Troy Deeney penalty and a Danny Welbeck hit gave them hope but it was not plenty of and the Hornets were relegated after five years in the top-flight following their 3-2 defeat.

"This is a reflection of the complete 12 months," Deeney told Sky Sports. "Not quite been good enough. Heartbreaking for the people who do the job behind the scenes and we have a pity party for them."

Bournemouth beat Everton 3-1 in Goodison Park but needed West Ham to defeat Aston Villa to survive.

Andriy Yarmolenko equalised after Jack Grealish's late target for Villa however the away side held in, sending Eddie Howe's aspect down after five periods found in the Premier League.

"It's incredibly painful -- all of us usually believed we were capable of a last-minute get away," Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe told the BBC.

An early goal simply by Harry Kane put Tottenham in the front against Crystal Palace. Palace equalised early in the second one half through Jeffrey Schlupp but the point was plenty of for Jose Mourinho's men to complete in sixth position.

Liverpool beat Newcastle 3-1 to finish the growing season on 99 tips -- the second-highest tally found in English top-flight history behind only Manchester City's 100 points in 2017/18.

Second-placed Town finished the campaign with a flourish, thumping Norwich 5-0 to attain 102 goals with Kevin De Bruyne scoring twice and coordinating Thierry Henry's record of 20 assists in a Premier League season.

Elsewhere, Brighton beat Burnley 2-1 and Southampton beat Sheffield United 3-1.
