Liverpool chairman Werner eyes 'sustained success' for champions
Liverpool chairman Tom Werner features backed the newly-crowned Premier League champions to enjoy an interval of "sustained success" under boss Jurgen Klopp.

Liverpool won the English title for the very first time found in 30 years on Thursday after Manchester City's defeat at Chelsea sealed the title for the Reds.

Werner, section of the US-based Fenway Sports Group that owns Liverpool, believes the earning mentality designed by Klopp since he took fee in 2015 could keep the staff hungry for more success next season.

Liverpool also clinched the Golf club World Cup in December and were Champions League winners last season, but Werner is confident the good times are not over yet.

"We want to undersell and overdeliver. We hopefully will be ensuring another amount of sustained accomplishment," Werner advised Liverpool's website on Saturday.

"Your competition is fierce and I understand our rivals are working tirelessly to upend us. But we have such talent set up as Jurgen, as Michael (Edwards, sporting director) and the group on the pitch.

"One of the items that stuck with me this season was their hunger for winning. I don't feel that will come to be diminished. They're such an excellent group of players.

"I have such fondness for them as individuals off the pitch. They're humble, they're kind, they delight in each other's provider. You could discover that in the videos if they were all celebrating.

"It's too much to ask them to stay as of this extraordinary level but it is our target to continue to play with this top quality."
Werner heaped praise on Klopp for rescuing Liverpool from mediocrity, but stopped short of score the German alongside the club's iconic ex - managers Expenses Shankly and Bob Paisley.

"I didn't have the pleasure of knowing or watching the fantastic football of (Bill) Shankly and (Bob) Paisley, so I don't really want to compare Jurgen to previous managers," said Werner, who has got been chairman of the Merseyside club since 2010.

"I just know that the league is extremely competitive so when we first became involved in Liverpool over a decade ago, we weren't even considering winning the league.

"Our goal was to just become top four and help to make it to the Champions Group.

"He has merely created this atmosphere at Liverpool that there's very little alternative except to win. He has generated such an atmosphere.

"One of the stuff that I'm just joyful about whenever I look at the team is how many players contribute."
