Mahfuz Ullah's body flown back home, burial in afternoon
The body of noted writer-journalist Mahfuz Ullah, who died at a Thai hospital, arrived back here early Sunday (April 28).
The Thai Airways flight, carrying the body, landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 12:45am.
The body was taken to the deceased's Dhaka residence.
Shahdat Raihan, a nephew to Mahfuz Ullah, confirmed the matter to Banglanews.
His first namaz-e-janaza will be held at Green Road Dormitory Jame Mosque after Zohr prayers.
He will be buried at Mirpur Martyred Intellectuals' Graveyard following the second janaza to be held at Jatiya Press Club after Asr prayers.
Mahfuz Ullah breathed his last around 10:05am Saturday (April 27) while undergoing treatment at Bumrungrad International Hospital in Bangkok.
He was 69.
Mahfuz Ullah was born in Noakhali on March 10 of 1950. He earned a postgraduate degree in physics and journalism from Dhaka University (DU).
He worked in various Bangla and English dailies including reputed weekly 'Bichitra'.
He authored as many as 50 books in Bangla and English.
He taught at DU and Daffodil University's journalism departments.
