Journalist Sheikh Rakib Uddin passes away
DHAKA: Sheikh Rakib Uddin, a permanent member of National Press Club, died at a hospital in the city on Saturday (February 03). He was 85.
Rakib Uddin breathed his last at BIRDEM Hospital at about 5:30 pm. He left behind his wife, a son, a daughter and many well wishers to mourn his death.
The senior journalist was buried at Azimpur graveyard in the city after two namaz-e-janaza. These were held on the premises of National Press Club and the mosque of Elephant Road Quarter.
Sheikh Rakib Uddin worked at UNB, Daily Independent and Daily Azad. He was chief reporter of Daily Azad.
Press Club president Mohammad Shafiqur Rahman and general secretary Farida Yeasmin expressed deep shock at the death of the senior journalist. In a statement, they conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family members.
