Kamlapur Station apt to be demolished for Metro Rail extension
The under-construction Metro Rail (MRT-6) line--from Diabari at Uttara to Shapla Chattar at Motijheel--will be extended up to Kamlapur Railway Station by 1.16km. Due to it, the aesthetic Kamlapur Railway Station, built-in 1968, may necessitate to change from its present area.
The proposal was surfaced at a meeting of the Ministry of Railway held in the administrative centre on Tuesday. The Ministry of Railway previously opposed the extension of Metro Rail since it would need shifting of Kamlapur Railway Station. Will Metro Rail gets expanded or Kamlapur Railway Station come to be shifted? This dilemma has extensively been talked about so far. However, Primary Minister Sheikh Hasina provides given consent to increase the distance of Metro Rail Fall into line to Kamlapur Station by someone kilometer. Thus, the Railway Ministry offers built a proposal to change the complete Kamlapur Station toward Shajahanpur, about 180 meter of the north.
Railway Minister Nurul Islam Sujan, Primary Minister's adviser Salman F Rahman, senior officials of different ministries and departments were present in the meeting.
Railway Director General Md Shamsuzzaman said a good multimodal transport hub would be developed centering the prevailing Kamlapur Station. Nevertheless, the Kamlapur Station wouldn't normally be demolished at this time. It will be shifted after the completion of Metro Rail work. Then work would start with the acceptance of the primary minister. It may require five to ten years.
