Joypurhat bus-train collision kills 11
Eleven people were killed during a collision between a bus and a train at Puranapoil rail gate in Sadar upazila of Joypurhat district early Saturday.
Five other injured people were delivered to district Adhunik Hospital, Fire Service and Civil Defence deputy assistant director Khandaker Sanaul Haque confirmed.
Later, these were shifted to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College in Bogura for better treatment.
Khandaker Sanaul said, 10 bodies were recovered from the spot. Later, a different one succumbed to his injuries.
The identities of the deceased cannot be known immediately.
A Rajshahi-bound train of 'Uttara Express' hit a Hili-bound bus on the rail line, leaving 10 passengers dead at that moment, the Fire Service official said.
Following the accident, the train services of norther region with the rest of the country remained suspended following the incident.
A relief train started from Parbatipur, said police super Mohammad Salam Kabir.
