Jet Airways flight suffers technical snag at 36,000 feet
India’s leading private airlines, Jet Airways flight with over 100 people on board made an emergency landing at Indore airport after one of its two engines failed when the plane was cruising at 36,000 feet.

“Flight 9W 955, Hyderabad to Indore of September 30 made an emergency landing at Indore. The Boeing 737 aircraft with 96 guests and 7 crew landed safely and all were successfully deplaned. The airline has informed authorities of the event and Jet Airways’ engineering teams are inspecting the aircraft. Jet regrets the inconvenience caused to its guests,” said an airline spokesperson.

According to flight monitoring sites tracking 9W 955, the B-737 bound to Indore from Hyderabad was cruising at an altitude of almost 11 km at a speed of about 850 mph when the engine trouble happened midway.

Twin-engine aircraft like the Boeing 737 and Airbus A-320 can land safely on a single engine.

The pilot switched off the snag-ridden engine and did an emergency landing with the help of the second engine. Powered by the other working engine, the B-737 made an emergency landing at closest airport at Indore.
