Jaya Ahsan to act and sing for a new film
Popular actress Jaya Ahsan will be both acting and singing for a new film titled 'Bini Shutoy', will be directed by Indian director Atanu Ghosh, who won the National Award for Best Bengali Feature Film in 2017 for 'Mayurakshi', she has signed up for, after a 10-month hiatus. Jaya's co-lead will be Indian actor Ritwick Chakraborty, who will play the role of Kajal Sarker. Ritwick previously appeared in 'Saheb Bibi Golaam' and 'Open Tee Bioscope.'
However, the notable fact about this film is that Jaya will also sing as part of her role in the film.Regarding the long break, Jaya said "After completing 'Debi,' I was too busy with its post-production and promotion. Also, I needed a well-earned break. Hence, the delay in signing for a new film."
Jaya also shared her reason for signing up to play Sraboni Barua in 'Bini Shutoy.' She said: "There are two reasons for which I signed up for this film. Firstly, I really loved the story. It is not a traditional love story, but rather a story where my character is trying to discover herself as a person. Secondly, I signed up because of the director."
Regarding her small singing part, Jaya said: "As a child, my parents trained me in singing, just like any other parents who want their children to learn arts and crafts. So, the few music lessons I had as a child will be the only knowledge I will be taking in to prepare for the singing in 'Bini Shutoy.' I agreed to do it, as it is part of the character I am portraying. I felt that the portrayal would not be authentic if the song sung by my character is in a different voice.
"The director, Atanu, also made another actor sing in his last National Award-winning film 'Mayurakshi,'" Jaya added. The songs of 'Bini Shutoy' will be composed by Debojyoti Mishra, and Jaya will lend her voice to just one song from the entire list.
If all goes well, 'Bini Shutoy' will come out at the end of this year or early the next. Jaya is not so sure about the exact date. However, she revealed that her fans will be able to see her next in 'Bristi Tomake Dilam', which will be released on February 22, and 'Kantho,' which will come out in May.
