IU cancels Thursday’s holiday due to founding anniversary
The Islamic University authorities canceled its Thursday’s weekly holiday for celebrating the 39th founding anniversary of the university on November 22, an IU press release said on Monday.
Marking the day, the university authorities planned a daylong program to celebrate the anniversary.
As part of the programme, IU VC Professor Dr M Harun-Ur-Rashid Askari will hoist national flag and Pro-VC Professor Dr M Shahinoor Rahman will hoist university flag in front of the university administration building around 9:30am while Treasurer Professor Dr M Selim Toha and acting Registrar SM Abdul Latif will be present there.
Later, a colourful procession will be brought out from the administrative building around 10am, led by the VC, with the participation of teachers, officials and students of the university.
The procession will end at the university’s Birshrestha Hamidur Rahman Auditorium after parading main roads of the campus.
Later, a discussion and cultural programme will be held there.
The university started its journey on November 22 in 1979. It is the first university which was established after Liberation War.
