IFALPA elects Biman Captain Ishtiaque Hossain as EVP for 2nd consecutive term
Dhaka: International Federation of Airline Pilots Association (IFALPA) has elected Captain Ishtiaque Hossain, Commander – Boeing 777 of Biman Bangladesh Airlines as their Executive Vice President (Asia Pacific) for the second consecutive term through direct voting session held at the Annual Conference of IFALPA at Berlin, Germany.
The conference was attended by 550 delegates who came from all over the world.
No other airline pilot of the sub-continent has been elected even for a single term for this position till now. Captain Ishtiaque will be responsible for the aviation sector of the Asia Pacific countries like Australia, China including Hong Kong, Fiji, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Mongolia, Malaysia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Singapore, Thailand, all of the SAARC countries and some Pacific Countries which are also shared with USA.
Captain Ishtiaque Hossain is also the first Bangladeshi to become a full member of International Society of Air Safety Investigators (ISASI), a United States based sole organisation specifically created for the air safety investigators and/or the aircraft accident prevention professionals of the world.
He is one of the pioneering airline pilots of Bangladesh having international accreditation as an ‘Aircraft Accident Investigator’ (AAI). He was the Regional Vice-President Asia/West for four consecutive terms before he got elected for the post of Executive Vice President.
Bangladesh Airlines Pilot Association (BAPA) in a separate statement congratulated Captain Ishtiaque Hossain for his outstanding feat.
Montreal-Canada based International Federation of Airlines Pilots Association (IFALPA) works closely with the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO), a specialised agency of the United Nations Organisation and International Labour Organisation (ILO).
