Human hauler driver beaten dead
A human hauler (locally known leguna) allegedly was beaten to dead for parking the vehicle in front of a shop in Savar, on the outskirts of Dhaka on Tuesday morning.
Deceased Aslam Pathan, 45, hailed from Baroikhali Khora College area under Sreenagar Police Station in Munshiganj district.
Ashulia Police Station sub-inspector Bijon Kumar Das said Zakir Hossain Juwel, owner of M/s Jewel Steel and Engineering Workshop in Niribili Bus Stand area, locked into an altercation with driver Aslam over parking human hauler in front of the shop around 8:30am.
At one stage, Jewel and his brother Rubel took Aslam inside shop and beat up him with iron rod mercilessly, leaving him unconscious.
He was rushed to a nearby hospital where the on-duty doctors declared him dead, quoting locals, SI Bijon added.
The body was sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue.
