HC dismisses writ over CEC, commissioners’ appointment
The High Court has dismissed a writ petition challenging the legality of the appointments of the chief election commissioner (CEC) and four election commissioners.

An bench of Justice Moyeenul Islam Chowdhury and Justice M Ashraful Kamal came up with the order on Monday.

Earlier on November 25, Supreme Court lawyer Advocate Delwar Hossain filed the writ with the related branch of the HC challenging the legality of the appointment of the chief election commissioner and four other commissioners.

The writ claimed that no specific rules were formulated for their appointment. 

Lawyer Yusuf Ali stood for the petitioner while the Deputy Attorney General Ekramul Haque Tutul represented the state.
