Happy birthday to Sabina Yasmin
Today is the birthday of iconic singer Sabina Yasmin, who has been regarded as a living legend as well as a valuable asset of the country. Celebrating the occasion in style, Channel i will air a special episode of its celebrity talk show ‘Taroka Kathan’ today at 12:30pm. Attending the show through a red-carpet reception by Channel i, Sabina Yasmin will share her stories to the fans and viewers. The programme will be anchored by seasoned actor-director Afzal Hossain.
Besides, young singer Zhilik, who was emerged from the reality music show ‘Shera Kantho’, will perform the popular songs of Sabina Yasmin at the show ‘Gaane Gaane Sakal Shuru’ at 7:30am on Channel i. Moreover, ‘Ebong Cinemar Gaan’, a programme featuring ageless movie songs rendered by Sabina Yasmin will be aired at 1:05pm on the same channel.
Sabina Yasmin as a child artiste sang for the first time in the Ehtesham-directed film ‘Natun Sur’ in 1962. She made her playback debut with the song ‘Modhu Jyotsna Dipali’ in the film ‘Agun Niye Khela’ in 1967.
Alongside receiving the Ekushey Award in 1984 and Independence Award in 1996, Sabina Yasmin won the National Film Award 13 times till now. She won her first National Film Award for the film ‘Sujon Sokhi’ in 1975.
In her long music career, Sabina Yasmin has sung over 10000 songs, while she recorded more than 1500 songs for the films.
