Ferry services on Paturia-Daulatdia route suspended
Ferry services on the Paturia-Daulatdia way have already been suspended since Saturday morning hours, causing immense sufferings to home-bound persons before Eid-ul-Fitr, reports UNB.

Mohammad Khorshed Alam, associate supervisor of Bangladesh Inland Normal water Transport Company (BIWTC) at Daulatdia port, said, "Ferry products and services have been suspended according to the orders of the Shipping and delivery Ministry."

However, he said that in the event of an emergency, "we are able to operate a couple of ferries for crossing the river".

Following the abrupt suspension of the ferry companies, people who hired tiny vessels to go to their indigenous villages to enjoy Eid with their family members, have been affected.

An enormous pressure of vehicles and travellers was witnessed about the Daulatdia-Paturia route during the past couple of days, especially in Friday, as people were heading homes, taking good thing about the two-day government holiday.

Officials claimed the ferry products and services have already been suspended to support the spread of Covid-19.

Mohammad Zillur Rahman of BIWTC, said, "The decision has been taken to avoid the spread of coronavirus."
