Father-daughter killed in Rajshahi train accident
A man and his three-year-old daughter were killed as an inter city train hit them in Bhadra Jamalpur level crossing in the metropolitan city on Monday (Oct 21) afternoon.
The deceased are Kamruzzaman Rubel, 30, son of late Jahangir Alam Makhon of Bhoropur area under Motihar thana and his daughter Rubaiya Khatun, 3.
Moshiur Rahman, sub inspector of Rajshahi railway police station, said the accident took place as a Khulna-bound intercity train Kopotakkha Express hit them from behind while they were crossing the rail tracks around 3:30pm.
Rubel died on the spot and his daughter was taken to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.
Though the people of the area termed it as 'suicide', the initial investigation into the incident did not find the truth of the matter, Saeed Iqbal, Officer-in-Charge of the Police Station, told media.
