Expatriate among 2 women die of dengue in Dhaka
Two women, including an expatriate, died of dengue fever in Dhaka on Monday night and early Tuesday.
Hafsa Begum Lipi, an expatriate in Italy, was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Anwar Khan Modern Hospital in the capital on August 2 with dengue virus where she died on Monday night.
Lipi came to Dhaka with her family three weeks ago. Her husband is also suffering from the viral fever.
Meanwhile, a septuagenarian woman, infected with the mosquito-borne disease, died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital early Tuesday.
DMCH assistant director Dr Md Nasir Uddin said, Monwara Begum, 75, a resident in Mirpur, was brought to the hospital on August 3 with dengue.
Later, she was shifted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the hospital following deterioration of her condition where she died at early hours.
A total of 15 patients have, so far, been died of dengue at the DMCH.
