English medium schools which are operated in accordance to foreign syllabuses should be registered with the government, stated the Ministry of Education about Wednesday.

The ministry has directed the Directorate of Secondary and ADVANCED SCHOOLING (DSHE), all education boards and nine regional deputy directors of the DSHE to take required steps in this regard.

At the same time, the ministry has asked them to supply lists of authorized and non-authorized English medium universities in the country.

In its directives, the Ministry of Education says that it is mandatory for the English moderate schools to secure a sign up certificate from the correct sign up authorities (General Education Board) by depositing registration service fees as per the individual school registration rules.

There are allegations that most English medium schools in the united states are operating with no government registration which in turn leads to no accountability on their part.

However, the government does not have precise information regarding the institutions and learners studying there.

According to latest data provided by the Bangladesh Bureau of Educational Facts and Statistics, there will be 146 English medium schools in the united states with 78,000 college students studying there.

Although a set of guidelines was occur 2017 about the registration of the institutions, it is but be thoroughly implemented.

Regarding to Section 19 (3) of the Education Ministry's guidelines, these organizations may charge from students for conducting co-curricular actions in academic institutions, for providing special establishments and usage of high-quality equipment or perhaps technology in providing the learners with better services.

However in this case, the entire expenditure statement should be approved by the administration committee and should be notified to the father and mother on paper, reports Prothom Alo.

Furthermore, the ministry guidelines also have reminded these educational institutions there are rules to mention the total amount and information on tuition fees, admission service fees, sports fees, library service fees, tiffin fees, printing service fees and other service fees collected in several categories on a monthly basis or year in the registration forms.

Guardians however say that these institutions usually do not fully disclose the facts of these service fees with them.
