DU student rape circumstance verdict Thursday
THE LADIES and Children Repression Avoidance Tribunal-7 will hand down the verdict in the event filed over the rape of a Dhaka University in the city's Kurmitola in January this year.
On November 12, Judge Begum Mosammat Quamrunnahar of Ladies and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal-7 of Dhaka fixed the time for the verdict in occurrence of lone accused Majnu after summary of arguments from both prosecution and defence.
On January 5, the DU scholar was raped while she was running from Kurmitola bus end to a friend's house near Shewra Rail Gate in Dhaka around 7:30pm after moving away from a university bus.
On January 6, the girl's dad filed the case with Cantonment Police Station, accusing unknown persons. The case was used in the DB on a single day.
Rapid Actions Battalion (RAB) arrested 30-year-outdated Majnu from Shewra area about January 8.
On January 16, Mojnu confessed committing the crime before a Dhaka court.
Before, Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) submitted a charge-sheet against Majnu to Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate’s (CMM) court about March 16.
The incident had caused shockwaves and triggered significant protests by students and humanitarian organizations in the united states.
