DU student ‘denied treatment by hospitals’ dies
An MA student of Dhaka University (DU) died on Monday found in Khagrachhari after many hospitals in the administrative centre allegedly denied him treatment fearing that he was a coronavirus patient.
Suman Chakma, a student of Institute of Education and Exploration, breathed his previous around 8:30pm, reports UNB.
Greater Chittagong Hill Tracts Students' Council, known as PCP, in a news release said Suman have been suffering from lung issues and received treatment overseas.
When he fell sick along March 11, his good friends rushed him to Dhaka Medical School Hospital, and then to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University, Gonoshasthaya Nagar Hospital and the National Institute of Diseases of the Upper body and Hospital, PCP said.
"The four hospitals denied him treatment on suspicion that he was infected with COVID-19," the press release claimed.
Suman, also an associate of PCP, was taken back again to his village home from Dhaka on March 18.
DU Proctor AKM Golam Rabbani said the MA student had been experiencing cancers and he passed on on Monday.
