DU observing Nat’l Flag Hoisting Day
Dhaka University is observing the National Flag Hoisting Day on Friday with due respect, reports UNB.
On this day in 1971, the national flag of a yet-to-be independent Bangladesh was raised at a massive students gathering at Dhaka University campus.
A specially designed national flag, with a yellow map of Bangladesh inside a red disc in a green ambience, was hoisted amid tumultuous cheers from the spirited students.
The then Dhaka University Central Students Union [DUCSU] Vice-President ASM Abdur Rob hoisted the National flag of independent Bangladesh on behalf of Swadhin Bangla Chhatra Sangram Parishad atop the DU Arts building.
Marking the day, the Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor (VC) Professor Dr Akhtaruzzaman inaugurated a programme at the historic Bottala premises adjacent to Arts building,
Besides, a discussion will be held on the significance of the day and patriotic songs will be performed at the programme.
