Dhaka Gallery and Tagore Terrace opens in Banani
Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor on Friday inaugurated Dhaka Gallery and Tagore Terrace, an art gallery and a restaurant situated at Banani's road No 12 in the capital.
Dhaka Gallery will host art exhibitions, cultural programs and other events. Sitting on 2,000 square feet space, the gallery will be a unique place for organizing different kinds of performances.
Tagore Terrace, the rooftop coffee lounge, will serve delicious food to the art lovers, who will also be able to enjoy music, documentaries and books there.The cultural affairs minister had visited the gallery and restaurant before joining the inauguration ceremony.
At the event, he said: "We do not have that many places in this city just to sit, relax and have informal conversations with our friends and family. I believe places such as this one will meet our demands for that, and help flourish the Bangali culture too by organizing interactive art and cultural events."
Wishing to perform on stage at Dhaka Gallery, Asaduzzaman Noor, also a famous actor, welcomed the initiative and shared some ongoing and upcoming projects of his ministry.
He said that, apart from reducing the rents of the auditoriums at Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, the government is also planning to build cultural complexes at the city's Uttara and Mirpur areas.
Attorney General Mahbubey Alam, noted Rabindra Sangeet singers Sadi Mohammad and Mita Haq, and architect Pintu Khan were among the dignitaries who were also present at the launching ceremony.
