Credible polls possible under partisan govt: TIB
Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB) on Monday said that a free and fair election can be held under a partisan government if the political parties have trust themselves.
"There is lack of trust about holding election under a partisan government. But it's possible if there is trust among political parties," said TIB Executive Director Dr Iftekharuzzaman.
He came up with the remarks at a press conference while unveiling a report on 'Inclusion of recommendation in political parties' election manifesto'.
He said the situation of distrust has been created due to the culture of ruling party's attempt to influence an election and defeated party's rejection of results.
The TIB executive director also said, "Many people think fair election is not possible under a partisan government as lack of confidence is prevailing in both political parties and public mind."
Political parties are seen much willing to publish their election manifesto, but not so eager to implement it, he added.
