POCO F1 may soon get Android 9 Pie update
Last month, Xiaomi's sub-brand POCO launched its first smartphone — POCO F1 with a combination of solid flagship features and affordable price. The smartphone, which created quite a buzz since its debut, is expected to soon get the latest Android 9 Pie.
Currently, the device ships with MIUI 9.6 based on Android 8.1 Oreo out-of-the-box and might soon receive Android 9 Pie update as the device running Google's latest Android OS has been spotted on Geekbench, according to GSMArena.
Notably, the benchmark result below shows lower scores than that of the version running Android 8.1 Oreo which further suggests that a lot of optimisations are left to be done and that this is not the final build.
The report says that "both the single-core and multi-core test results are lower than what our review unit scored with Oreo on board — some 17 per cent lower." However, we could soon see an Android Pie update for the F1, given that an Android Pie version has been spotted testing.
On the specifications front, the POCO F1 is powered by a Snapdragon 845 chipset accompanied by Adreno 630 GPU and a dedicated liquid cooling system. The handset embraces a 6.1-inch full HD+ notched 19:9 display, protected by Gorilla Glass. It offers stereo speaker setup as well. POCO has also stuffed in a large a 4000mAh battery with a Quick Charge 3.0 support, which can be charged via the USB Type-C port. Optics wise, the device packs a 12MP+5MP dual rear camera setup with AI optimisation and a 20MP selfie camera, also assisted by AI.
The smartphone comes with a starting price of Rs 20,999 for the 6GB RAM and 64GB storage variant and goes up to Rs 28,999 for the 8GB RAM and 256GB storage.
