Country may face 3 cold waves in January
Three mild and severe cold waves may hit the country in January while another one is forecast for February.

The second spell of the season’s cold wave may hit the country from Monday (January 6) as the mercury level may start dropping from Sunday night, according to Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD).

BMD, in a press release, said on Saturday (January 4) light rain or thundershowers is likely to occur at a few places over Chattogram division and at one or two places over Dhaka, Mymensingh, Rajshahi, Rangpur, Khulna, Barisal and Sylhet divisions in the next 24 hours as of 9 am on Sunday. 

Night temperature may fall by 1-3 degree Celsius and day temperature may rise slightly during the period

The maximum temperature in the country was recorded 27.7 degrees Celsius on Friday at Teknaf in Chattogram division and minimum temperature was 12.0 degrees Celsius on Saturday at Dinajpur in Rangpur division.
