Chattogram beat Dhaka by 16 runs
Chattogram Challengers registered a 16-run victory against Dhaka Platoon during their Bangabandhu Bangladesh Premier League (BBPL) encounter under the lights at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram today.
After being asked to bat, Chattogram got off to a brilliant start, courtesy of a quick-fire 36-ball 57 from opener Lendl Simmons. After Simmons was dismissed in the 11th over, Imrul Kayes and skipper Mahmudullah Riyad carried on the good work as the former played a 24-ball 40 while the latter smashed another 28-ball 59 that included five fours and four maximums to see the home side post a mammoth 221.
Following the exchange, despite a 35-ball 52 from opener Mominul Haque and another 27-ball 47 from Thisara Perera, Dhaka could only manage to score 205 runs before being bundled out. For Chattogram, left-arm pacer Mehedi Hasan Rana remained the pick of their bowlers, returning match-winning figures of three for 23 runs in four overs.
