Coming from my children is a double-edged sword
Actor Patrick Schwarzenegger says his famous surname is a "double-edged sword" because his family are "inspirational" and almost always there is a whole lot of "pressure" on him because his father is Arnold Schwarzenegger.

"Coming from my children is a double-edged sword. It really is incredibly inspirational but it also puts on a lot of pressure. At the start of my career, I was desperately trying to prove that I'm not simply so-and-so's kid and that I was making my own path," Patrick told Britain's Glamour magazine.

Patrick has learned to disregard the expectations and assumptions placed on him by other persons due to his famous family name, reports femalefirst.co.uk.

"What I realized was those factors can not be your 'why' for doing everything you do. That isn't what should be motivating you, because you could end up being the highest degree of whatever it is you want to be, and do you know what - those same persons are always likely to doubt how you got there. You 'must' have your own reasons to accomplish everything you do or you will be really unfulfilled," he added. He finds it frustrating that people assume he does not have any work ethic as a result of his background.

"The first thing persons say to me when we meet is, 'You're rich, your dad is wealth, you haven't any work ethic - you don't have to work'. That's hard to listen to because it isn't true - I must just live with that assumption. But I've been a super motivated person.

I've always just wanted to do things by myself terms and known I was capable of that," Patrick explained.

He credits his famous parents to make him "driven".

"It probably originates from both my parents and my whole family being so driven. I am extremely fortunate to have my father and mother as mentors, financially and for my education. I owe them a whole lot and I really recognize that privilege," Patrick said.
