'Close up One' star Salma's second husband sent to jail
'Closeup One star' and popular folk singer Salma Islam's second husband Sanaullah Nuri Sagor has been jailed in Cox's Bazar.
A judge of the Cox's Bazar Women and Child Repression Prevention Tribunal-1 sent Sagor to jail after denying his bail in a case filed by his first wife's mother on charges of assault and seeking dowry.
Prior to marrying Salma, Sagor was married to Tasnia Muniyat Pushpi from Tek Para, Cox's Bazar. According to the case filed by Pushpi's mother Dilara Khanam, Sagor married Salma Islam without his first wife's consent, and he had also demanded dowry and beaten Pushpi. The case was filed under section 11 (C) / 30 of the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act, 2000.
Sagor, the son of Sakhawat Hossain from Haluaghat of Mymensingh, married Tasnia Muniyat Puspi, daughter of Cox's Bazar Commerce College's Philosophy Professor Akhter Alam and Dilara Khanam, on July 3, 2014. The bride wealth (denmohor) was set at Tk20 lakh. After the marriage, Sagor demanded dowry from his wife and a total Tk6,50,000 was given to him in different installments.
On September 5, 2014, Sagor demanded an additional Tk10 lakh, beat Pushpi and forced her out of the house. She was hospitalized later on and her mother filed a case against three people on November 19, 2018. The three accused are Sanaullah Nuri Sagor, his father Sakhawat Hossain, and his mother Suraiya Hossain.
Police of the Bureau of Investigation (PBI) Inspector Sirajul Islam submitted the investigation report on December 10 last year. The report mentioned that the case had been verified.
Subsequently, the court issued arrest warrants against the three accused. The defendants secured bail on April 9, and were ordered to surrender to the Women and Child Repression Prevention Tribunal to renew the bail after it expired on June 4. However, the defendants did not surrender until July 3. While Sagor's bail was denied and he was sent to jail, his father and mother were granted bail on a Tk10,000 bond.
