Cairo to continue support to Dhaka more than Rohingya crisis

Egyptian Ambassador on Dhaka Haytham Ghobashy in Wednesday assured Primary Minister Sheikh Hasina his country would continue steadily to stand by Bangladesh more than the Rohingya crisis as he paid out a courtesy ask her at the premier's established Ganabhaban residence on Dhaka, reports BSS.

"The recently appointed envoy said Egypt will continue its support to repatriate the forcibly displaced Rohingyas to their homeland in Myanmar," a premier's office spokesman said after the call on.

Primary Minister’s Deputy Press Secretary Hasan Jahid Tusher told information briefing that the ambassador highly praised Bangladesh’s socio-economic development in Sheikh Hasina’s leadership and simultaneously described her due to an "exemplary head" of Muslim Ummah.

The premier said her government was trying to implement Dad of the country Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's dreams, following his production plan.

In line with the spokesman Ghobashy explained Dhaka-Cairo relations were based largely upon trade and commerce while there have been some unexplored areas of mutual cooperation to strengthen further the bilateral ties.

The ambassador said his country could extend its support to Bangladesh in ensuring safe water supplies, dam and barrage constructions together with promotion of tourism while Egyptian businesses could relocate their plants in Bangladesh to expand bilateral business relations.

He also laid focus on exchange appointments of trade bodies and businessmen to improve bilateral trade and commerce.

Sheikh Hasina welcomed the idea of setting up Egyptian models, saying the entrepreneurs there could do it in particular economic zones in Bangladesh and informed the envoy that her federal government planned to develop a special tourist zone found in Cox's Bazar for foreigners.

She told the envoy that Bangladesh is lucrative web page for foreign business owners who could create business here eying a huge South Asian market specifically.

Tusher said the envoy proposed that Bangladesh could be an observer found in "Eastern Mediterranean Gas Discussion board" where his country includes a key stake for cooperation over natural gas usage.

Tusher said the premier as well discussed with the envoy about threats of international terrorism and pointed out her government's "zero tolerance" coverage against the menace even though Ghobashy said Egypt was first willing to establish collaboration with Bangladesh in combating militancy.

Sheikh Hasina said there is absolutely no room of terrorism found in Islam and told the envoy that her federal government was constructing 560 model mosques across Bangladesh to greatly help spread the true messages of Islam.

Prime Minister's Workplace Secretary Md. Tofazzel Hossain Miah and premier's Armed service Secretary Major Basic Naquib Ahmed Chowdhury had been present through the call on.
