Build yourself up to get empowered: PM to women
Primary Minister Sheikh Hasina on Sunday urged the women of the country to buildup themselves to become with the capacity of being empowered.

"Empowerment cannot be attained by force, it’s the matter of attaining through own capacity," she said.

The Primary Minister said this while inaugurating the function of the International Women’s Trip to Osmani Memorial Auditorium.

According to the US Women, the motif for Foreign Women’s Working day 2020 is “We am Generation Equality: Recognizing Women’s Rights”.

Sheikh Hasina said that electricity will never be paid to them by any additional person. "I'll need my sisters to get ready themselves for that," she said.

Talking about rape incidents, she stated that this is not a problem in Bangladesh alone, that is a global problem.

"I suspect that we are looking for awareness, the men also need to step of progress regarding this matter, as the rapists are males," she said.

She said that those involved with such animal like repression are the most heinous.

"I don’t want to contact them humans. I would like to call them inferior compared to animal. The complete society has to take steps against them," she said.

Saying that economic freedom is quite crucial for women, this lady urged the womenfolk of the united states never to sit idle in homes and stand by themselves feet instead.

She said a woman can consolidate her position in society and relatives and none will dare to neglect her if she earns money through work.

Sheikh Hasina said the government has enacted necessary laws and regulations with a check out to protecting girls and kids from all types of violence, keeping the provision for stringent punishment.

The laws, she said, included - ‘Females & Children Repression Prevention Act-2000’, ‘Child Relationship Restraint Act-2017’, Household Violence (Prevention and Security) Act 2013, ‘Dowry Restraint Act-2018’, 'Child Relationship Avoidance Act- 2017', National Girls Development Insurance plan 2011 and National Work Arrange for Women Development 2013-25.

Mentioning that the country’s womenfolk are getting opportunities in every field, Sheikh Hasina said this success did not come overnight and because of this “we'd to struggle much”.

Elaborating her government’s actions for women development, this lady said the federal government has been implementing numerous jobs and programmes to consolidate women’s empowerment, child security and achieve gender equality

Assuming office just after a gap of 21 years in 1996, she said, the Awami Group government started designing numerous programmes for women creation.

“We’ve increased maternity leave from 4 a few months to six months with earnings and introduced the brand of mother combined with the brand of father in every aspect,” she said.

She said females are actually playing significant purpose in politics, diplomacy, education, art and culture, research, trade and commerce, sports and video games, investigation and adventures.

First of the speech, Sheikh Hasina paid abundant tributes to Father of the country Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and stated that he ensured equal chance for ladies in the constitution through.

Sheikh Hasina as well remembered Begum Sheikh Fazilatun Nesa Mujib, who worked for the country along with Bangabandhu at all times giving him motivation, courage and suggestions.

“Bangamata arranged the matrimony of the lady victims of the Liberation Battle whose households were unwilling to have them back,” she said.

She said Bangladesh is advancing socioeconomically, and this trend should be maintained in order that this pace should not be stopped.

State Minister for Women and Kids Affairs Ministry Fazilantun Nessa Indira presided over the programme where Acting Region Representative of UN Ladies Shoko Ishikawa and Female and Child Affairs Secretary Kazi Rowshan Akhter also spoke.

Previously, the prime minister handed over “Joyeeta Sammanana” to five girls because of their outstanding contributions with their respective fields.

They are Mosammat Anwara Begum, Dr Suparna Dey Simpu, Mamtaj Begum, Auronika Meherin Ritu and Valerie Ann Taylor. Each of the recipients acquired crest, certificate and Tk 50,000 cheque.

At the function, a documentary on Bangabandhu and Women's Development was screened.

The Prime Minister also witnessed a colourful cultural programme.
