Launch small businesses with small loans: PM
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina suggested the youths to launch smaller businesses by taking loans instead of not running after jobs.
The premier inaugurated the nine-day fair as the principle guest at a function at the Krishibid Institution, Bangladesh (KIB) Auditorium at Farmgate on Wednesday (March 4).
In her speech, the prime minister put emphasis on creating more women entrepreneurs, proper utilisation of marine resources, diversification of the merchandise, exploring new markets, establishing food processing industries, generating goods keeping pace with the variation of seasons, making more employment and ensuring option of the raw materials.
Sheikh Hasina said collateral-free loan has been disbursed from the Karmasangs than Bank and the SME Foundation, and the entrepreneurs can begin business by firmly taking loans from there.
Pointing out that the interest rate of the lender loans are incredibly high, she said the government has taken initiatives to slice the lending rate. “You want to lower it to an individual digit to ensure that our entrepreneurs can invest by obtaining loans easily … we’re creating this facility (for them),” she said.
The prime minister said her government has ensured food security for the people. “We’re now focusing on ensuring nutrition for the people and they’re getting its benefits,” she said.
