BNP polling agents forced out of centres, Rizvi alleges
BNP senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has alleged that BNP polling agents have been forced out of many centres by ruling party during the Gazipur City Corporation election with the help of police.
"As per the information we've received so far, over 100 polling stations have been captured ...a grand festival of fake voting is going on," said the senior BNP leader at a press conference at the party's Nayapaltan central office in the capital.
Rizvi also said their party's mayoral candidate Hasan Uddin Sarker's chief election agent Sohrab Uddin lodged various complaints with the returning officer, but no action has been taken yet in this regard.
Voting in the GCC began at 425 polling stations around 8am will continue till 4pm without any break.
Rizvi alleged that their candidates' some polling agents have been arrested from different voting centres while pro-BNP voters are not allowed to enter some police stations, reports UNB.
Police are playing the role of ruling party cadres in the Gazipur polls, he said.
