BNP MP Harunur Rashid's bail upheld
The Appellate Division on Wednesday upheld the High Court order that granted six months bail to BNP lawmaker Harunur Rashid in a graft case.

Lawyers said, there is no legal bar for Harunur Rashid to walk out of jail as the Appellate Division, led by Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain, passed 'no order' on a petition filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission.

Earlier on October 28, the HC granted six months bail to the BNP lawmaker in a tax-evasion case that sentenced him five years’ imprisonment.

On October 21, a Dhaka court sentenced Harunur Rashid to five years' imprisonment in the case. Later, the BNP lawmaker filed an appeal with the HC challenging the lower court verdict.

The anti-graft body filed the case with Tejgaon Police Station on March 17, 2007, against three people, including Harunur Rashid.
