'Bhuban Majhi' released in Kolkata
'Bhuban Majhi', a full-length Bangladeshi feature film based on the Liberation War of Bangladesh, is hit the cinemas in Kolkata on August 3. 'Bhuban Majhi' was released in various states of India, including Kolkata, Agartala and Assam, under the banner of a production and distribution house owned by director Arindam Sil.
Directed by independent filmmaker Fakhrul Arefeen Khan, 'Bhuban Majhi' saw its release in Bangladesh on March 3 in 2017. Till now, the film participated in various international film festivals across the globe.
'Bhuban Majhi' stars Bangladesh's Aparna Ghosh and Indian actor Parambrata Chatterjee in the lead roles. Other prominent casts of the film include Mamunur Rashid, Sushuma Sarker, Nowshaba, Maznun Mizan and singer Waqeel.
'Bhuban Majhi' is an epic love story dares to face the historic crisis and the oppressors. It is a journey for truth and entity of a nation spanning through four decades.
The canvas of this film holds the great Liberation War of Bangladesh in 1971, but is not limited to it. It illustrates the lives and its challenges up to 2013 as it tries to portray the real freedom that grows in the spirit of the mankind and displays a great transformation of an individual through the time journey.
Under the SAFTA agreement, the film 'Bhuban Majhi' received the grant from the government. The film received an uncut censor certificate from the Indian censor board earlier on April 20 this year.
About the film's Kolkata release, Fakhrul Arefeen Khan said, "It was the dream of late folk musician Kalika Prasad Bhattacharjee, who composed and directed the music of 'Bhuban Majhi', to have the film's release in Kolkata. I also wished the same. I feel wonderful as the wish of Kalika Prasad has finally been fulfilled."
