'Bengal Classical Music Festival' cancels music fest
Bengal Classical Music Festival, which is organized by Bengal Foundation annually, will not be held this year. The festival, which features best classical musicians, mostly from the South Asian region, has received huge response from the music lovers at both home and abroad.
The organizers in a statement said that the event, scheduled to be held on November 28, will not be held due to venue complications.
'We applied to the concerned authority for allocation of Bangladesh Army Stadium as the venue for the music festival but we were not given permission due to security reason. Besides, Abahani ground is not available for hosting the event as it is undergoing renovations,' Rezwanul Kamal Chowdhury, manager, communications, Bengal Foundation, said.
Bengal Classical Music Festival was cancelled last year due to security reasons ahead of the national election, which was held on December 30.
Bengal Foundation organized the first classical music festival in 2012 at Bangladesh National Museum. The following four editions of the event were held at the army stadium. The festival was initially cancelled in 2017 due to venue permission issues, but was rescheduled and eventually held in Abahani field in the capital's Dhanmondi area.
