'Malhar Festival' welcomes rainy season in Bangladesh
A two-day 'Malhar Festival' featuring blissful classical ragas welcoming the rainy season ended at Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy on Saturday.Indian High Commission to Dhaka in association with the Indian Council for Cultural Relations organized the program at the National Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy.The festival began on Friday.
Indian high commissioner to Bangladesh Riva Ganguly Das, Bangladesh prime minister's international affairs adviser Gowher Rizvi, political advisor HT Imam, state minister for environment, forest and climate change affairs Md Shahab Uddin, textiles and jute minister Golam Dastagir Gazi, state minister for local government, rural development and co-operatives Swapan Bhattacharjee and BSA director general Liaquat Ali Lucky were present among others at the festival.
Renowned Indian classical sitar maestro Pandit Kushal Das, sarod maestro Pandit Debjoyoti Bose, vocalist Sawani Shende Sathaye, tabla maestro Pandit Subhankar Banerjee, Tanmay Abhay, Mukund Shreeram along with Bangladeshi classical vocalist Priyanka Gope entertained the distinguished guests and audience presenting classical ragas.
The first day of the event witnessed mind-blowing performances by Shawani Shende Sathaye, Subhankar Banerjee, Tanmay Abhay and Mukund Shreeram.The programme began with a beautiful presentation of Raag Miyan Ki Malhar by Sawani followed by Kajri and Raag RamdaasiMalhar by Kushal Das. Debojyoti Bose, Subhankar Banerjee and Priyanka Gope performed on the second day.
'The festival offers a great opportunity for music lovers to witness prominent artistes from India presenting their best compositions,' said the organizers.'The festival aims to connect classical music lovers in both Bangladesh and India,' they added.
